CdCblanc, a design student in Berlin, creates beautiful sketches of dresses inspired by geek culture including video games, astrology, comics and books. His designs turn our favorite geeky icons from Iron Man to The Capitol of Panem to Pokémon into elaborate gowns. These Pokémon have never looked so stylish and I wish they were real garmets so I could catch ‘em all especially the Togepi dress for my 365 Days of Video Games Fashion.
I don’t typically reblog content, but I just couldn’t resist sharing these amazing Pokemon inspired dresses. They are beautiful!
I’ve scoured the webz and found these video game valentines. Hopefully they will help you on your own romantic quest.
This outfit is inspired by my personal favorite Pokèmon, Gyarados. I’m going to give you three reasons why Gyarados is the best Pokèmon ever:
1. It’s from a lovely little place named Lake of Rage! Arrrggghhh
2. It’s a flying fish. That’s awesome.
3. It’s a water type that can learn fire and electric moves. Total surprise attack.
Now that Gyarados is your favorite Pokèmon too, you’ll really want to wear this outfit inspired by the dragon. I found a gorgeous dress that reminded me of the different shades of blue and spikes that cover Gyarados. I added a black belt to contrast against the print. I also chose a cardigan that’s the same color as Gyarados’ belly. I wanted to bring a little ocean influence to the outfit, so I found a starfish ring and bubble necklace. The violet earrings look amazing with the dress and are the same color as Gyarados’ eyes. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by the legend - wait for it - ary Pokemon, Ho-Oh. I wanted to capture it’s unique color palette of red, orange, green, and dark blue. I found a gorgeous print dress that combines most of Ho-Oh’s colors in a retro cut. This set the tone for the rest of the outfit. I chose dark blue accessories with a vintage flair and gold and red jewelry that complimented the dress. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Mei, the female protagonist of the newest installment in the Pokèmon series. I chose a really cute skirt in the same color as hers, paired with thigh high tights and wedges. Socks and skirts are totally in style for fall and are a great way to transition those summer skirts to cooler weather. I also chose a graphic tee and denim jacket. I wanted to capture her “childish” spirit with some whimsical accessories, including a floral bangle and London printed shirt. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Haunter of the Pokèmon games. I chose a purple dress, paired with black accessories. I also wanted to do a classier look, so I chose some beautiful pearl jewelry, including a layered necklace. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Umbreon of the Pokemon games. I chose a black dress with yellow accessories. I also chose earrings that have a similar shape to Umbreon’s spots and a red bracelet that matches it’s eyes. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Espeon of the Pokèmon series. I chose a lilac summer dress to replicate Espeon’s color and fluidity. I also chose dark blue long earrings and grey accessories to compliment the dress. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Suicune of the Pokèmon series. I wanted to do a flowy, light summer outfit that reflected Suicune. I chose white shorts, with a light purple tank top and layered with a denim top - mimicking Suicune’s pastel color palette. I also chose silver square stud earrings that are similar to the diamond shapes on Suicune’s body. Lastly, I chose a matte grey watch and dark purple sandals to tie the outfit together. This outfit is inspired by the Red Trainer in the Pokèmon series. I chose a mostly red palette, similar to the characters, and chose a cool plaid button up instead of a vest. I also chose some sneakers and a snap back hat for a sense of youth - plus the snap back hats are really in style right now, I actually think they look way cooler than the typical flat brim. You could even add a black or grey jacket to this outfit to stretch it’s life into the colder weather. (Reference Image)
This outfit is the last of our Pokèmon themed day and is inpsired by the infamous Pikachu. I think my favorite part of this outfit is the contrast between the black and the yellow, it just looks super cute (That, and the lightning bolt necklace). This outfit can be dressed up or dressed down really easily by swapping out the accessories. (Reference Image)
