This outfit is inspired by my personal favorite Pokèmon, Gyarados. I’m going to give you three reasons why Gyarados is the best Pokèmon ever:
1. It’s from a lovely little place named Lake of Rage! Arrrggghhh
2. It’s a flying fish. That’s awesome.
3. It’s a water type that can learn fire and electric moves. Total surprise attack.
Now that Gyarados is your favorite Pokèmon too, you’ll really want to wear this outfit inspired by the dragon. I found a gorgeous dress that reminded me of the different shades of blue and spikes that cover Gyarados. I added a black belt to contrast against the print. I also chose a cardigan that’s the same color as Gyarados’ belly. I wanted to bring a little ocean influence to the outfit, so I found a starfish ring and bubble necklace. The violet earrings look amazing with the dress and are the same color as Gyarados’ eyes. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Sofi from Lucidity. Now if you haven’t played Lucidity, I highly recommend downloading it. It’s a really fun side scrolling puzzle game with a beautiful story. I wanted to play on Sofi’s youth and whimsical approach to life in the game. I chose a striped top paired with a denim skirt to mimic her in-game ensemble. I also chose tweed booties and a tweed jacket to transition this outfit to cooler weather. I also chose dark red winter accessories and owl jewelry. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by the headcrab zombies in Half-Life. I wanted to capture the look of a lab coat so I chose a white shirt dress, paired with a red cardigan. I chose red to represent the blood and grossness with still looking stylish. I also chose blue accessories to compliment the dress. Lastly, I chose a brown and tan headband that reminded me of a headcrab. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Haunter of the Pokèmon games. I chose a purple dress, paired with black accessories. I also wanted to do a classier look, so I chose some beautiful pearl jewelry, including a layered necklace. (Reference Image)
I thought I’d try something new on here and share my favorite fall must-haves.
1. Burt’s Bees shimmer makeup / Benefit beauty product
I chose these make up products because they work excellently in the fall weather. Burt’s Bees, in my opinion, is the best brand for any lip makeup and this tinted lip balm is super cute! I also chose Benefit’s Moon Beam highlighter - one of my daily makeup staples. This highlighter can be used as an alternative to blush highlighting cheekbones, or, if you’re pretty good at makeup things, be used as to contour your face.
I chose this orange blouse with skulls on it because it’s totally different looking, but still has that fall feeling to it. This shirt would look super cute with a pair of skinny jeans and boots, tucked into a wool skirt with tights, or even paired with a slimmer maxi skirt and wedges.
3. Juicy Couture / Betsey Johnson earrings / Red jewelry /
I chose these earrings because I think they’re absolutely beautiful. I’m a huge fan of Juicy Couture’s jewelry line (NOT their sweatpants). They’ve always got really different earrings that look elegant, but quirky. Betsey Johnson is also one of my favorites, but sometimes her jewelry is a little too bold for me. I also chose a red rose pendant necklace because I instantly think floral print for fall - something which I wanted to replicate with jewelry.
4. J.Crew slim fit shirt
This shirt is perfect. Everything about it: the soft grey hue, the peter pan collar, the zipper in the back. I’m in love. One big fall trend this year, which I’m totally on board with, are peter pan collars. This type of collar is super girlie, but has a sort of whimsical look, which I think makes it a great investment piece. It might be trendy right now, but I think peter pan collars could look timeless with the right outfits.
5. Alexander McQueen jewelry / Kate Spade pearl necklace / Nelly Accessories gold ring, $8.02 / Rhinestone jewelry
I chose jewelry that was very feminine to me to balance out some of the masculine pieces, like the shoes and skirt. I also chose jewelry with really cute details, like the bow.
6. Wallis mini skirt
This style of skirt is my go-to for fall. I’m constantly pairing wool skirts with various printed tights and cardigans all autumn long. This one in particular is amazing because of the masculine print - adds a touch of unique to an average outfit.
7. Shift dress / Vero Moda knitted scarve
Please ignore how expensive this dress is. It’s more for inspiration - plus, I’ve seen similar styles at Forever 21 for a fraction of the price. I chose this dress because I absolutely love floral for fall. I also love the silhouette of it, I think it would look adorable paired with a dark, long blazer.I also added a dark infinity scarf for transitioning this outfit to cooler weather.
8. J.Crew slim jeans
Colored jeans were all the rage all summer, but can they make it through fall? I believe they can. Choose jeans that are a light, neutral color (no neon pink jeans!) and be sure to pair them with fall colors to warm up the outfit. A lot of stores are also carrying colored cords, which could be a great way to transition this style to winter.
9. Steve Madden black flat
Loafers are huge right now - especially ones that are decorated in some way. These studded loafers are a perfect fall outfit, adding a little bad-ass to anything. I’d pair these shoes with more girlie outfits (like the colored jeans and peter pan collar sweater!) to add a little visual interest.
I believe everyone should have one pair of everyday sunglasses and one pair of fun sunglasses. This pair falls into the second group. They are so fun, but still look totally fashionable and sleek.
10. Steve Madden leopard flat
Steve Madden is my favorite brand of shoes, so he’s making a second appearance on this list. I found this adorable leopard print oxfords which I think would look great with almost any outfit. Now, I know most people are a little intimidated by wearing leopard print, but just remember: it’s a neutral (of sorts). You can wear leopard print with essentially any color and any simple print. Don’t go pairing leopard print with zebra print and a bold floral - but if you keep it simple, it could look amazing!
This outfit is inspired by Vincent Brooks of Catherine. I wanted to do a girlie take on his casual outfit. I chose dark burgandy crop pants, paired with a cream top. The crosses remind me of the weird religious themes throughout the game. I also chose an ornate blue cuff, once again reminded me of a church’s stained glass. I found really cool cube earrings that represent the main gameplay of Catherine and a sheep necklace hinting at his uh…alter ego? (Reference Image)
This week’s community outfit was created by me. This outfit was based on the outfit featured on C2C inspired by Aeris from Final Fantasy. I chose a floral maxi dress from Marshalls, paired with an American Eagle denim jacket. Finally, I accessorized with lots of bangles, from J.Crew and H&M, and a Fossil watch.
This outfit is inspired by Maxwell of Scribblenauts. I wanted to do a preppy take on his mismatched outfit and chose denim shorts with a light blue shirt. I also chose a green bag and navy shoes. I wanted to capture the drawing essence of the game and found a really cool pencil pendent necklace! (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Lydia from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I wanted to do something that was super layered, just like her armour. I chose brown cords, paired with a grey sweater and a dark brown leather jacket. I also chose the cutest fur hat, ever. I wanted to incorporate just a touch of fur like her in-game armour. I also chose a black backpack, making this outfit perfect for those of us returning to school in a few weeks (and you can’t forget that Lydia will always carry your burdens!). I also chose a key necklace which reminded me of all those dungeons in the game and picking endless amounts of locks. (Reference Image)
This outfit is a little different than our usual “inspired” outfits. I chose to create an outfit that is not only inspired by the E3 logo, but what I would wear if I was going.
For those of you who don’t know what E3 is, it’s an annual video game conference where the biggest gaming companies unveil their newest games, consoles, and announcements. It’s a really big deal in the gaming industry and it’s one of my biggest dreams to one day go.
I chose do focus on the palette of the logo by choosing a red blazer paired with a striped yellow shirt. I chose to do all of the accessories in black to contract the red and yellow. I also chose a small cross body purse because I find a small purse is way easier to wear at a convention - that way your hands are free to play some games or snap pictures. I also chose probably not the most comfortable, but definitely the cutest shoes - if wedges aren’t your thing, this outfit would be really cute with black flats. Lastly, I chose a grenade necklace because I think E3 is one of the only places where that sort of thing would be acceptable. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by the White Mage of Final Fantasy. I chose to do a white dress to imitate the Mage’s robes, along with a bright red cardigan. I also chose flame earrings because I think they look similar to the pattern on the Mage’s robes. I paired this outfit with some quirky, whimsical accessories to add that sense of magic. This outfit could be really cute for hanging out, work, or even a date. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Solid Snake of the Metal Gear series. I chose to do an evening outfit interpretation of him with a black and grey palette. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by Sheva Alomar of Resident Evil 5. I chose similar colors to her default in-game outfit, along with lots of leather accessories to match her multiple harnesses and holsters. I also chose some summer-y touches: a light scarf, flats, and funky earrings. (Reference Image)
This outfit is inspired by the Heavy class of Team Fortress 2. I chose a similar color palette to his in-game outfit, and replicated the look of a bandolier with a cross body bag. (Reference Image)
